Consultants have been appointed to carry out the next stage of development work on the restoration project for the Literary and Scientific Institute. Following submission of tenders and interviews, the BADT has appointed Architecton of Bristol as the conservation-accredited architectural practice to organise surveys of the present condition of the building and to draw up and cost plans for the restoration work. Simultaneously a business planning consultant, Christina Dixon Consulting, has been appointed to develop a viable business plan for the building post-restoration. This work has been financed by a grant from English Heritage‘s Historic Buildings, Monuments and Designed Landscapes scheme with match fundng from the local councils, trusts and private donors. The consultants will work with the BADT’s project team, and the work should be completed by June 2012 as a key step to submitting a Round One bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund in August 2012.
