English Heritage Grant for Institute Project (August 2011)

The BADT has been successful in obtaining a £37,000 grant for project development of the Literary and Scientific Institute proposals from English Heritage under its Historic Buildings, Monuments and Designed Landscapes scheme.  The application was submitted with the encouragement of English Heritage officers following discussions earlier in the year about revised proposals for the restoration and alterations to the building.  The grant will enable appointment of a lead architect (who must be conservation accredited) to commission all necessary surveys and draw up preliminary architectural plans, and a business planning consultant to develop a feasibilty study and business plan for the future operation of the building.
